Joining NATO requires the unanimous consent of all current NATO countries.

Hungary has shown many times that it will not be a lapdog of the European elite. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Hungary blocked Ukraine’s membership.

Who knows? Maybe that’s what Stoltenberg is counting on. He gets to talk big while knowing that Hungary will keep Ukraine out of NATO.

There is no US-Russia nuclear war forecasted in Scripture.

And the morons who are so “nymphomaniacal/satyric” for WWIII won’t be the ones dying from it.

I thought that there was a clause in the NATO charter that you cannot admit a country that is already in an active war for fear of getting the rest of NATO involved? DOH!

“WW3 on the horizon.”

I doubt it. I’m thinking the Europeans see two options:
1) That Russia takes what’s necessary to prevent Neocon terrorism from attacking their people (roughly 50% of what was Ukraine). OR...
2) Russia liberates ALL of Ukraine.

Statements from NATO like this promise basically assure that Option 2 will be the ultimate outcome (particularly since the US is adios after the election, regardless of who wins). And that’s EXACTLY what Europe wants.

The reason that Option 1 is NOT ACCEPTABLE to Europe is that most corrupt country in world, Ukraine, would then fall into Europe’s lap, and be a BASKET CASE for Europe, for decades...so let Russia have it, and if Putin is in a good mood, he might even divvy some of it out to Poland and other aggressor neighbors.

LOL Russia lived with Ukraine as independent and intact for 23 years. The Ukraine war is a matter of ego and loot for Putin and his cronies, not a matter of national existence. With no organized political resistance inside Russia, the combination of enough battlefield losses and a golden exit would be sufficient for Putin to agree to a treaty giving most of the territory back. The whole notion that NATO would ever launch Barbarossa II is figment of Russia’s imperial imagination.

The US defends the free world by treaty or not.

NATO encroachment is the dog that won’t hunt.

WWIII? Russia is in Ukraine going on 2 1/2 yrs.

What is he going to takeover next> A few hummus and pita stands.

The standard pro-Russian narrative is that if the Russians are cornered, they’ll nuke the US. But they’re not cornered. They can retreat into Russia. Even if they were cornered and we were about to overrun Russia in its entirety, it wouldn’t make sense for them to commit suicide. Russia was once overrun by the Mongols, who weren’t exactly gentle overlords. But Russia survived, turned the tables and conquered much of the old Mongol empire, which constitutes the overwhelming majority of the Russian empire today and a territory bigger than the US.

A Russia completely overrun can come back, maybe even take over the lower 48. A Russia killed to the last, because its leaders used nukes against a peer nuclear power, will never again be anything, except a depopulated province of the Islamized Mongols in the neighboring Stans.

Russian first use nuclear threats are empty ones not because the leaders are nice guys but because at minimum the Friends and Family nuclear targeting plan will take care of anyone remotely associated with them, permanently. Jimmy Carter was a mega dove, but even in his time, retaliatory nuclear targeting emphasized the elimination of ethnic Russians by default, an objective Zbig, Carter’s NSA, made sure to emphasize.

If you love Russia and hate Ukraine, nothing but the destruction of Ukraine and its incorporation into the Russian empire will make you happy. For others indifferent between the two, there is no possibility of Russia using nukes. It did not when it lost half its territory with the collapse of the original Russian empire in the 90s. Why would it do so over a loss in Ukraine that’s not even 10% of that earlier loss, that it did not even own at the beginning of the invasion?

Especially when a nuclear first strike would mean the end of Russia for the rest of time? Russia can come back even from foreign occupation. It will never come back from a pile of ashes. To put this in terms you can understand, Russia will not use nukes for the same reason not even the biggest Ukraine-hating Russophile has tried to take out his Congressman for his Ukraine vote. His fear of the personal consequences keeps his weapon holstered.

This reminds me of that old Star trek episode where the federation puts this jerk in charge of the Enterprise and he has no idea what the hell he is doing, and he gets into this conflict with the Klingons? (I think it was) and it gets so bad that the Kingons have the ship surrounded threatening to annihilate the Enterprise and it’s checkmate and the doofus (Biden) says “I don’t know what to doooo” and Spock says that’s grounds to remove doofus from command, and Kirk takes over and gets them out of the mess 1-2-3 and doofus admits “there’s a difference with the right man in command”

That’s exactly what’s going on here. The elites demanded Biden, he was installed, and he’s bringing us to the brink of Armeggedon while the right man for the job is being freakin prosecuted of all things! NONE of this crap would be going on today if Trump was at the helm

Nah

More victory speeches that try to pretend everything is going the way we wish it had.

Sure, Ukraine will be in NATO, in the year 2525: https://youtu.be/izQB2-Kmiic?si=xMKUtMcjqhd2YSct

The people who are promoting WWIII, are the ones who want it. It’s proven to be a lie that there was ever a promise to not offer Ukraine NATO membership.

No, it won’t. Even though America and most of Europe is ruled by inbred NeoCon psychos, Hungary, Slovakia & Turkey are not suicidal.

Stoltenberg is a typical eurotrash bureaucrat who has no real world experience and only minimal mandatory military basic training. If he thinks Ukraine in NATO is a good idea, he will be sadly disappointed.
