The Drug Enforcement Administration is expected to approve an opinion by the Department of Health and Human Services that marijuana should be reclassified from the strictest Schedule I to the less stringent Schedule III. It would be the first time that the U.S. government has acknowledged its potential medical benefits and begun studying them in earnest. [...]

The Schedule I classification has always been baseless and absurd.

Even alcoholics know the dangers of booze. Not so with weed heads.

This is how Democrats rally the idiots and addicts and mental cases to come vote for them.
It’s the free cigarettes and chicken dinner tickets of our time.

My state stopped buying into the bogus classification a long time ago.

“Weed ruins people.”

Criminalizing things that people use to ruin themselves - whether weed, booze, or unhealthy diets - is textbook nanny-statism.

Do you want to criminalize booze and unhealthy diets?

You see what you want to see. If you want to see ruined go to the emergency any night of the week. You’ll wait hours to see a doctor. These aren’t potheads going to the emergency room, it’s meth and fentanyl. A ruined person may smoke pot but that wasn’t what made them ruined, bad choices did.

Are you saying that cocaine, meth, fentanyl, heroin, and opium should all be made legal and advertised as well?

What about prostitution ( child prostitutes included ), should also be made legal?

Crimes such as looting and other forms of theft are quasi legal now. How's THAT working out?

“Another issue the GOP loses.”

Unless Trump doubles down by pledging to act on his 2016 (and later?) statements that it’s a state issue.

But if he caves to the Reefer Madness fringe, that’ll be a vote loser.

They will do nothing but promise for votes. After the election it will be forgotten. Like student loan debt relief promise in 2020. Election year.

then we should be put weed, alcohol, and cigarettes on the same schedule and see which kills more people.

a lot of politicians from both sides invest in weed stock, knowing or unknowingly.

since i’m about to retire soon, i’m thinking about setting up a growing area on my 10 acre lands out in the stick where i let my buddies hunt during the deer season. it would be a small shack that can hold two plants per ‘member’ as allowed by law. it is very easy to buy seeds of strong strains legally. all 100% natural. and thanks to tiktok, there are volumes of guides on how to produce the best yield.

heck my retired manager and his retired director both staunch conservatives have their own operations.

Maybe; but there was nothing at all except the desire to lose stopping the GOPe from passing a similar bill and letting the Democrats play keep up or veto. They can be forced into the loser-nanny role easily as with NYC and pop or Tipper Gore and video games.

Also, the Feds retaining the harsher classification, states with recreational pot crack down on firearms purchasers and will strip people of 2A effectively if they smoke. Even if they don’t, they make it harder (e.g., in MI a CCW/CPL previously enabled one to bypass the NICS check; but with legal pot in MI the ATF was able to reinstate it lest anyone smoke and then later or ever wish to own arms.)

In states where the question comes up on a ballot, sponsored by Dem activists, it’s been a big win for Dems across the board. (again, e.g., MI; pot on the ballot and the triple Communist witches run Governor and SoS and AG). And of course the cities smell like skunk and there’s billboards with dumb pot meme names everywhere.

So sheer pandering from Brandon; but what’s new? Hopefully even the stoners remember they’ve got to eat and buy gas occasionally; and it really won’t help him in the blue-turning-red states where recreational pot is already happening. I doubt the pro-2A pro-420 population will shift an inch to his side.
