Pro-Perry web ads hit N.H.

The pro-business conservative group Americans for Job Security has bought up online ads in New Hampshire, touting Texas Gov. Rick Perry's work enacting "loser pays" tort reform laws.

The web ads link to an AJS petition highlighting Perry's economic record: "Texas is leading the nation in job creation because of its pro-growth economic policies. In the last two years Texas, led by Gov. Rick Perry, has created more jobs than any other state . Loser-pays tort reform removes a harmful barrier to job creation." (See one of the web ads here.)

AJS president Steve DeMaura, a former executive director of the New Hampshire Republican Party, also has an op-ed in NH Journal declaring "tort reform must be pulled into the national spotlight, and New Hampshire's presidential debate is the place to do that."

This isn't the first AJS push to praise Perry on liability reform: DeMaura co-authored a Wall Street Journal op-ed with Chuck Norris 10 days ago on the same subject.

Yahoo - June 12, 2011: Texas' Perry assails Obama on abortion at LA stop [excerpt] Perry also faulted Obama for reversing the so-called "Mexico City policy" that banned giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide information about abortions. Obama struck down the policy during his first week in office, saying it was too broad and undermined family planning in developing countries.

Under Obama "our federal tax dollars can now be used to fund abortion all over the world. With the stroke of a pen, abortion essentially became a U.S. foreign export," Perry said.

California Assemblyman Dan Logue, a Republican, has been urging Perry to enter the race and is behind a draft-Perry website. "We like to see him do what he's doing for Texas for the country," Logue said.

Several people in the crowd said they were mostly unaware of Perry but were willing to consider his candidacy, especially given his outspoken opposition to abortion.

"I look for any leader who has strong moral fiber," said Ricardo Brambila, 37, a paper company sales manager from Orange. A Democrat, Brambila said he's uncomfortable with Obama's direction on abortion and stem cells.

Perry is pushing tougher immigration laws in Texas. Brambila said he supports a secure border "but you can't step on people's rights once they are here."

Jose Rodas, 42, who manufactures signs in Los Angeles, said he knew only that Perry opposed abortion. "He has good principles," he added. [end excerpt]

Houston Chronicle – June 12, 2011: Other states leaving Secure Communities (TX expands ICE program] [excerpt] As Texas moves toward expanding Secure Communities, several northern states are dropping out of the program that matches the fingerprints of those arrested against a U.S. [ICE] database.

Last week, before Gov. Rick Perry's announcement that the expansion of Secure Communities would be on the agenda for the Legislature's special session, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced his state will not take part in the program.

Massachusetts joins New York and Illinois in ditching Secure Communities amid concerns that the program, which ICE says is intended to identify the illegal immigrants who have committed serious crimes and ensure they're removed from the country, instead has resulted in people who have minor convictions or no criminal records being removed from the country.

In Texas, all 254 counties and some municipalities - including Houston - participate in Secure Communities, checking the fingerprints of everyone booked at jails and detention centers against ICE's database. If the person being booked has a record with ICE, the agency will be alerted. [end excerpt]

Texas Observer - May 27, 2011: After Six-Year Fight, Perry Signs Voter ID into Law [excerpt] After six years of fierce partisan battling, the legislative war over voter ID in Texas is officially over.

Gov. Rick Perry signed the voter ID bill into law this morning. The legislation requires voters to present one of five acceptable forms of photo ID—a drivers license, military ID, passport, concealed handgun license or a special voter ID card provided free of charge by the state. Gov. Perry designated voter ID as an “emergency item” early in the session, giving it particular priority as lawmakers rushed it through the legislative process.

"This simple action, no more complicated then cashing a check down at the HEB or applying for a library card down the street, will appropriately help maintain the integrity and fairness of our electoral system here in the Lone Star State,” Gov. Perry said at the signing....[end excerpt]

Rick Perry has had NOTHING to do with the financial success of Texas. Texans have handled that.

Perry signed a bill allowing new taxes via a “franchise tax” in Texas businesses which is nothing more than an illegal income tax. He has allowed illegals to flood in to the state and has allowed sanctuary cities. The Trans-Texas corridor thing he pushed was a monster land grab that would have ruined numerous Texas businesses including Texas farms and ranches by taking of property. He was pushing Cintra, a Spanish company on that deal. A Spanish company?

Perry has been business friendly. He attempted to be helpful to Cintra as I mention above and one other company, Merck and Company. By attempting to push their drug Guardasil on Texas women via executive order.

Perry cannot “do what he is doing for Texas for the country” because Perry did hardly nothing to promote Texas businesses.

Hi again isthisnickool.

I am going to highlight GOP candidates (or potential candidates like Sarah Palin and Rick Perry) etc.

Your comments are welcome, as always.

Here's a LINK for others to research and here is Rick Perry's website for Gov of TX linked to his wife's bio Anita Perry.

Thanks.

I was a big "W" supporter and know his family. I overlooked how "W" profited off the Texas stadium deal and the way the Bush family in general has had their hands in the taxpayers pockets for decades. Some of the stuff Neil Bush has done over the years is sickening. Barbara Bush has no qualms about putting her claws in the taxpayers pocket. The whole family is that way. Why I thought "W" would be careful with our money was me turning a blind eye to reality. "W" spent money like crazy. I won't make that mistake again. There are things about Rick Perry those outside of Texas need to be clued in about. Some of us should have done the same thing with "W". "W" was a nice guy. The whole family is "nice" and "thoughtful". But that does not change the fact that none of them have really worked a day in their lives.

I voted for Perry every time he ran for office after he got the job when Bush left office to run for president. I did that because Perry was always the better candidate. A crappy one but a better one against all his opponents. If it came down to Perry vs Obama I'd hold my nose again. But we can do better than Rick Perry. Much better.

If Perry does run and does not resign the same day he announces I will be even more negative about him. I'd bet he will not resign if he does run because he has few if any skills outside of "public life". If he does announce and then resigns I'd be impressed. That would be a very conservative thing for him to do.....

I agree wholeheartedly. I am also tired of holding my nose and voting for the lesser of two idiots.
