Has anyone here had LASIK eye surgery, and have you been happy with the results? I'd especially like to hear from those who have had it on one eye.
I have one eye that is very good, and one with astigmatism that seems to get worse as I age. I'm thinking of having Lasik on the bad eye.

Best thing I ever did, 15 years ago and still 20/20.
A buddies Mom had it done, he said her eyes swelled up like an alien. Something about an infection.
I just went out and got new eyeballs. 👀 don’t ask how I got them. 🤨
May I ask how old you are? I’m over 70, and I don’t know anyone who has had it at my age.
I had both eyes done about ten years ago. I would do it again for sure. My vision is still close to 20/20 in both eyes although I do need 1.25-diopter reading glasses. But I needed reading glasses in conjunction with contact lenses before the surgery.
I chose not to do just one eye because I thought it would be kind of weird.
I know that you can’t do a job that depends on your eyesight, if you’ve had LAZIK surgery, because of the slight possibility of losing your eyesight.

Well, I don’t mind using reading glasses, and I know we might need them even after the surgery.
I’ve just always found prescription eyeglasses so disorienting that I’ve ceased using them as the prescription for that one eye kept getting stronger.

I had lasik years ago, both eyes. Loved it! Eventually had to wear reading glasses, but that was after many years.
I went and saw an optimist and he said my eyes looked fantastic.

I was a bit slow on the uptake. What she was really conveying to me was that she could see the clock for the first time in many years w/o her contacts in.
I was very happy for her.

So I’m younger than you. I’ve had to wear glasses since I was 10. Or contacts. The lasik was amazing. Now I have multi focal lenses implanted, and I’ve never been happier. I mean that!! No more glasses…ever!! Maybe consider that as an option.
I had RK, which was the forerunner of LASIK.
Worst decision I ever made.
But LASIK is supposed to be better.

I had PK surgery on one eye about six weeks ago. PK is similar to LASIK (the same laser is used). When I left the Ophthmologist’s office twenty minutes later, my vision in that eye had significantly improved. You do have to use the eye drops exactly as prescribed in order to prevent infection.
