Another out-of-season storm is brewing near Hawaii and is likely to deliver much heavier rain than the first, as an atmospheric river will become involved, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.

A storm locally called a Kona Low, which is a storm in the middle levels of the atmosphere, brought rounds of rain to parts of the islands from late last week to Mother's Day weekend. Up to several inches of rain brought localized flooding to Oahu and Kauai.

Earlier this spring, another Kona Low brought tremendous rainfall and flooding to part of the island chain. In a matter of hours, the storm unleashed rainfall equal to seven times that of the entire month of April in Lihue, Hawaii, and five to 10 times the April historical average on the island of Kauai. Honolulu received two times the April average from the storm in mid-April.

When did they start lacing the weather reports with all this fear porn? Every time its the end of the world with the "potential" of severe weather with thunderstorms.

"When did they start lacing the weather reports with all this fear porn?"

When were the terms "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" start being used?

You left out “Human-caused” atmospheric rivers.

No, let me correct that: “Capitalist, white Supremacy, patriarchal, Christian nationalist, Zionist, Trump Magat” human-caused atmospheric rivers.

Hawaii’s supreme court has effectively seceded the state from the United States so I don’t care what happens to them. They don’t recognize our Constitution and that’s where my concerns for them cease.

Hawaii is a rain forest, so they should expect it to rain.

About five or six years ago we stayed over on the dry side north of Kona. Drove up to Wiamea and down the northeast coast road to Hilo. Just for the day. We had lunch in downtown Hilo. We also went to some big waterfall right outside of Hilo. They had umbrellas to use for the walk through the park to the river.

On the north side of Hilo we drove through a rain storm where I wished that the wiper blades had another speed above high. Like hyper drive wiper speed. It came down in buckets. A local told me it happens all the time. Why do you think its so green over here?

Is an atmospheric river what we used to call rain?

It rains a lot in the tropics. Ask someone from India. Somerset Maugham wrote a famous story about it: Rain.
