Elite force bucks trend of Ukrainian losses on eastern front

Fifteen miles east of the garrison town of Lyman, a desperate fight has been taking place on Ukraine’s eastern front for months. The once verdant Serebryansky pine forest has been reduced to burnt-out stumps, reminiscent of images from the Somme, destroyed amid Russian attacks aimed at eliminating Ukrainian foxholes.

Fearful that the frontline could crack last summer, Ukraine’s commanders deployed the Azov infantry brigade to the sector. Their task was and is to repel what “Maslo”, a 29-year-old staff sergeant with the unit’s first battalion, described as “constant assaults, every day, sometimes for 24 hours”. Occasionally the brigade makes dangerous counterattacks on foot.

Poor visibility, perhaps 30 metres where the wood is thicker, and a mismatch of equipment makes the fight harder. Maslo, whose call sign translates as butter, described a “more or less stable” artillery mismatch of five to one in favour of the Russians, though he believes it is closer to 10 to one in the most intense sectors of the front, such as during the winter battle of Avdiivka, which fell to the invaders in February.

Russian drone attacks are also proliferating, the soldier added, reflecting a successful shift by Moscow towards a war economy. But perhaps the most serious problem the defenders face are Russian glide bombs, air-launched from as far as 70km away by Su-34 and Su-35 jets. These are moderately accurate weapons that, if they happen to land on target, can wreak havoc on targets below.

“The average age of the Ukrainian army is 43,” Savill says

That won't get it done. You need younger slave soldiers.

“That won’t get it done. You need younger slave soldiers.”

The relative handful of young whites in Western Europe seems to need something to do now that ‘Climate Justice’ had pretty much run its course since they’ve succeeded in killing off nukes, coal, and Russian hydrocarbons. Perhaps they should show off their fighting skills in Ukraine?

Russia has developed glide bomb FABs that can be released between 120 and 143km from the front lines. Russia started massive production of heavy gliding bombs and FAB 3000, 5000 and 9000. A 500 pounder will leave soldiers shell-shocked for 2-4 days in a near miss. Ukrainian soldiers are literally losing their minds.

By July the Russia output of drones at one facility alone will reach 30,000 a month. They hope to have production of 1,500 a day by October. On a 550 mile frontline that’s about a drone per 1000 meters so it not like it’s raining death from above, yet.

Ukraine is going to give hunders of square miles in the next week or two and wade across the next river... only to be breached when Russia finally starts their offensive - we are still observing Russia Mobile Defense. Let that sink in, these operations are considered Mobile Defensive battles to shape the battlefield for the upcoming Russia offensive.

Save the Ukrainian soldiers. Save the Ukrainian people.

Save Ukraine.

Let the Russians take over.

The world will be better for it.

Everlasting peace in Europe will follow.

Look up the 77th Sustainment Brigade during WWII. They kicked the crap out of the Japanese in WWII. The average age was I believe 33.

A young age does not mean you are better fighters. It may mean you are just better cannon fodder.

The 77’th in WW2 had 200 days of combat, with 1449 KIA, and 5935 WIA (via wiki). A fully staffed infantry division in WW2 would have 14000 men in it. So they must have had about a 50% casualty rate over theose 200 days. Old age and treachery are indeed advantages, but they do not make you immune.

War has always been a young man’s game. That is just physical reality. I would point out that infantry contains the word “infant” in it. For reasons observational in nature, I imagine. That said, the men of the 77’th were brave and honorable men. God bless them.

As for the AZOVs, I have no use for them. They are cartoon descendants of the fascists our country fought in WW2; scum. The sooner the AZOVs are wiped out, the better off the world will be.

The 77th held their own in combat and were respected by the Marines and feared by the Japanese.

Casualties were high for all units in the Pacific. The 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Marine Divisions all suffered more dead and wounded than the 77th. And the 5th only fought one battle. Far less time than the 77th.

Age does not make a soldier less skilled.

The average death rate in the Pacific for 1000 men in combat per day was 1.78. So 14,000 for 200 days would have been 4,984 dead. Far more than the 1857 of the 77th.

The average for wounded per 1000 was 5.5. That is 15,400 for the average. Still more than the 5,534 for the

77th.http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/C/a/Casualties.htm
