As a drummer I always wanted one. Found several plans back when to build your own. Never got to play one though.

A friend of mine in college made a plucked mountain dulcimer as a project for a music course. Being brilliant, he also learned to play it quite well and aced the course.
John Jacob Niles sang in a high falsetto and played Appalachian dulcimers which he made himself. His recordings were often very haunting.

From time to time I work with a woman who built her own at 17 and has played professionally for decades. As I square dance caller I am asked to work with live music once or twice a year and for many of those events we have built a band around Karen and her hammered dulcimer.
Franz Liszt in some passages of the Hungarian Rhapsodies emulates the sound of the hammer dulcimer which was known as the cimbalom at that time.

Are we earnestly calling to leave this lesson of pain..most Christians to me are decent folks but do we seek...most are offended when one says this world has never seen lufe,is not born and we have no clue so why are we acting like we know better than God...so in line with Christ teachings don’t live for this world .its a flash .
We need more living faith..all man does is kill everything in the name of God and tell others to follow..

The Cimbalom is a hammer dulcimer on steroids. I did a number of shows with a Hungarian Gypsy while he was touring the US and sitting in with some philharmonics here in the eastern US. Guy traveled the world his whole life playing that thing. Amazing instrument in the right hands.
