The GOP is happy to be listless and leaderless and will continue to be so until the threat of Donald Trump is no more.
Then it will be back to business as usual and the fake “Hey, we’re conservatives fighting for conservative principles! And we need your cash to help win!”
All B.S. of course. Trump has exposed them to the vast majority and we see the GOP as the same as Dems just with a different playbook.
Trump showed us that Washington DC is one big party and none of us are invited. They just want us to foot the bill.

Independents always have been democrats without the skin to say they are.
I have been a registered Republican since 1983 but like you bailed on the national party in 2008-2010 time frame. It took every thing I had in me to vote for McCain, I loathed that lying, backstabbing SOB and had Palin not been on the ticket I was voting third party. I held my nose and voted for those two douche bags they nominated in 12. I voted for one of my senators, Rand Paul but stopped voting in 2010 for my representative and the other scumbag McConnell.
I remain registered as a Republican for local and state party primary races but at the national level I consider myself a conservative independent. I have no intentions of ever voting again for another establishment Republican for president. The FR establishment cadre will castigate me for not voting for any candidate with an R in front of their name and claim I support the Democrats. But seriously, this same establishment knows the noodle wristed pusscakes they nominate are despised by the parties base and they nominate and run them anyway knowing they lose votes so who really supports the Democrats here.
At this point the Republican Party is little more than a Little Me-Me version of the Democrat Party. I’m done with them.
Not one Red Cent for the Leftist (all the rich Liberals and Movie Stars) and Not a penny for the Rino-Republicans (War profiteers, oligarchs and rich County Singers). We have no money for the rich! Remember; “The first ones now will later be last! The times they are a changin’”

I register as Independent. I vote for the most conservative candidate I can identify. Unfortunately that meant the likes of Bush/Cheney, Romney/Ryan, and in my state, Tillis and Burr. The Republicans have changed, not me. Only two presidents have earned my trust and they were Reagan and Trump. Only one state senator has served honorably and that was Jesse Helms. Everyone else has been a failure and a backstabber in my eyes. I do not support any democrat. They lack a moral compass as do many self-identifying “Republicans”. The world is a mess right now. I’m sorry that my post wasn’t clear on these points. Have a peace-filled Christmas with your family and loved ones.
